FS2000 Scenery Virtual Montana Set 1

by Fred Choate using Airport 2.6

****This scenery is created for use with Ed Denny's Terrain Mesh for Montana, and my not work properly with default scenery**************

Well, I have been doing alot of scenery lately in the form of fictional resorts and airstrips in Northwest Montana. I thought it was time to do some real life strips to go along with those, so here they are....

This file contains scenery for 3 airstrips located in the Southfork of the Flathead Valley. Spotted Bear USFS, Schafer USFS, and Meadow Creek USFS. Spotted Bear and Schafer have been hand drawn to create the real profile but Meadow Creek is pretty straight forward, so I simply enhanced the default strip.

Important: Spotted Bear and Schafer have been hand drawn and moved slightly to present the proper layout. Use of the default locations in the airport selection menu will NOT place you on the airport runways. There are listings for Runway starts located in the FS6 and Before listing when searching for an airport.

THANKS TO DOC GEORGE FOR HIS MACROS WHICH I INCLUDED IN THIS ARCHIVE! VERY NICE WORK!

INSTALL:

Installation is pretty straight forward. Extract this archive to the SCENERY folder of FS2000 and all the files will be created in the proper folders. If you would like too, you may take the textures from the texture folder that will be created and put them in the MAIN FS2000 TEXTURE folder. This will not harm anything.

Once you have extracted this archive as stated above, fire up the sim and go to the Scenery Library located under WORLD in the menu bar. Click on ADD, and browse to the directory FS2000/Scenery/Virtual Montana and click on it. Then you need to name the scenery. I named mine "Virtual Montana" and mark it as Active, and then click on the Green Check Mark.

The screen may go crazy for a minute.......that is fine.

Now close the sim, and open your Scenery.cfg file located in the FS2000 Main Folder. You will need to add the following exclude and flatten switches to the Virtual Montana listing:

Exclude=N48 6.91,W113 39.46,N47 55.35,W113 10.92,objects
Flatten.0=4855,N48 5.32,W113 16.95,N48 5.02,W113 14.41,N48 4.61,W113 14.54,N48 4.47,W113 16.14
Flatten.1=3670,N47 57.84,W113 34.20,N47 57.79,W113 33.56,N47 56.96,W113 32.89,N47 56.96,W113 33.56
Flatten.2=3982,N47 51.16,W113 24.8,N47 51.16,W113 24.25,N47 50.23,W113 24.25,N47 50.23,W113 25.2

Copy the above text EXACTLY and then paste it into the Virtual Montana entry so that it looks like this (your layer numbers and paths will be different):

[Area.089]
Title=Virtual Montana
Local=SCENERY\Virtual Montana\scenery
Active=TRUE
Layer=89
Exclude=N48 6.91,W113 39.46,N47 55.35,W113 10.92,objects
Flatten.0=4855,N48 5.32,W113 16.95,N48 5.02,W113 14.41,N48 4.61,W113 14.54,N48 4.47,W113 16.14
Flatten.1=3670,N47 57.84,W113 34.20,N47 57.79,W113 33.56,N47 56.96,W113 32.89,N47 56.96,W113 33.56
Flatten.2=3982,N47 51.16,W113 24.8,N47 51.16,W113 24.25,N47 50.23,W113 24.25,N47 50.23,W113 25.2

Once you have that done, then you can fire up the sim and fly away! Have a ball!
